Child Slavery

Today, millions of children around the world are trafficked and enslaved through forced labor, sexual exploitation, and child-soldiering. Every year, at least 2 million more children are trafficked into sexual servitude or the worst forms of child labor. More than a quarter of a million children are involved in armed conflicts. What can we do to stop child slavery?

How we act: on child slavery

Child Slavery Blog: Jesse Eaves in Southeast Asia - Introduction: It’s not what you think

Written By Jesse Eaves, policy advisor for children in crisis issues for World Vision, from his recent trip to Southeast Asia

Hello there folks! Let’s get the “who” out of the way and get right to the “what” and the “why.” Jesse Eaves here, coming to you from Dulles International Airport, in Washington, D.C. “Who?” you may ask. Jesse Eaves. “One more time?” [sigh]. Jesse Eaves, policy advisor for children in crisis issues for World Vision in Washington, D.C.

Children in Crisis? Well, as a child-focused organization, World Vision works to strengthen U.S. policies to protect children who are vulnerable to abuse and neglect. For instance, I spend the majority of my time focusing on issues including the abuse of children as child soldiers, child sexual exploitation, exploitative child labor, and trafficking of children. I work with World Vision programs, members of Congress, their staffs, executive agencies such as the State Department, and with everyday concerned Americans like you to make sure the U.S. and her citizens are doing everything in their power to protect vulnerable children from exploitation.

Pennsylvania teen boldly speaks out against child trafficking

Taking action to right a wrong is often intimidating. Using our voices to make appeals at the governmental level is even more so. But, as Rebeka Fry demonstrates, when we are called to action by a personal passion or inner conviction, it's only wrong not to respond.
