It is impossible to read the Bible and not see God’s concern for the poor, the weak, the lowly, and the marginalized. God’s response and His petition to those that follow him is always consistent – care for the poor, defend the weak, speak up for those whose voices are often left unheard. This calling is not exclusive to a group of social activists but rather it is a command for ALL who call themselves followers of Christ. As we engage in social justice and draw our communities into creative activism events, it is important to remember that Christ is always the foundation on which we stand.
